Once "very nearly complete," Star Wars Battlefront III was scrapped by LucasArts in 2009. The proposed sequel is a no brainer from a fiscal perspective, as the multimillion selling capture-the-flag title has earned credence as one of the greatest Star Wars video games (there are many.)
News is, game developer Spark Unlimited has been working on a fresh Star Wars Battlefront III for several years. Spark has opened up job listings, as follows:
Spark is looking for a senior combat designer for a 3rd Person Action/Adventure sequel in a high-profile science fiction franchise currently greenlit for full production development for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC markets.Note the above terms, "sequel" and "high-profile science fiction franchise." These, in combination with some digging into the LinkedIn accounts of several Spark Unlimited employees, have led determined fans to the conclusion that a Star Wars Battlefront III may not be so far fetched.

Since we are working on a sequel for a well known sci-fi franchise, all aspects must remain secret.Is the sword fighting space ship shooting AAA high profile action adventure science fiction game definitely Star Wars Battlefront III? Maybe not. However, this journalist wouldn't be surprised if it was. I for one would love to see the Battlefront concept fully realized in HD, with better physics and more on screen enemies. AND ONLINE MULTIPLAYER. There's a lot of potential.
