Rumor: Starfox Wii U by Retro Studios at E3 2012

Update: Take this with a grain of salt, but the Paul Gale Network, who famously debuted early information on Playstation All Stars Battle Royale is saying that they hear that Retro is working on a crossover between the Star Fox and Metroid series. What this means is anyone's guess, but either way we may know more soon at Nintendo's E3 press conference on June 5th.

The people over at Techtroid have what they say is a credible rumor that Nintendo is going to show a Retro Studios developed Starfox title for their forthcoming Wii U console. This rumor is given additional credibility after Retro's previous public comment that they are actively developing “a project everyone wants us to do" for the Wii U.

If the rumor is true, the game will be shown at E3, but will not coincide with the system's launch. With the quality work they have proven with Metroid and Donkey Kong, it is realistic that Nintendo would trust Retro with another in their line of precious franchises.

As always, take rumors with a grain of salt.  After the success of Starfox 64 3D, let's assume Nintendo knows what is best for their pocketbooks as well as the fanboys that keep them in business.
